I'm a California native residing in San Jose working as a graphic designer and volunteer stage performer. In 2006 I decided to write a novel based on stories I told my son. After many years of writing and rewriting the novel, I found that it wouldn't fit into a single volume. So, now I'm writing a series of novels to get the whole story in. The project is now going on 16 years and I'm happy to say that Book One: The Deathtakers Daughter is now available as both an eBook and in paperback.

Why write a novel in the first place and why did I think people might want to read it? Sometimes you just have to put yourself out there and take a chance. Every creative wants to share their work with an audience. I have already shared it with a few people (whom I respect) and they told me other people might enjoy it as well. This sounds corny, but my mother read an early draft of the first manuscript and asked, “what happens next?” I’m still working on the next parts.

As a former president of the “Newark High School Star Trek Club,” science fiction and fantasy continue to be one of my passions. You should see my robot collection. Now that the genres have become popular, I can proudly say I was a nerd long before there was something called Star Wars. Yes, I went to the opening screenings of A New Hope and still enjoy the franchise, but there was a bunch of stuff that came before.

As an author, I don’t have many prior things in print. I did a bit of technical writing while I was a quality assurance technician, wrote several articles for our local neighborhood association and wrote the most horrible play in my playwriting class while studying acting at San Jose State. I have, however, been writing stories all my life – most of which could be considered mediocre.

Later in life, I learned I'm somewhat dyslexic. It’s never caused me a problem with reading or comprehension but it does slow down my writing to a crawl. After discovering I had the condition, I experienced one of those “so that’s what that was” moments. I always thought I was just bad at writing. These days,
I need to triple check everything I write and often must rewrite sections. Fortunately, I have a few friends that help me with that. Word processor programs have also been a great help.

This first novel was produced on a shoestring budget. The original seed money came from some old Disneyland coin banks shaped like Mickey Mouse and Skull Rock. At some point the Mickey Mouse bank melted and was replaced with a glass bear shaped Skippy jar. Most everything was done my myself (including this website) or by my friends for little or no pay.
